Stresskin Panel System

Most timber framers are using the Stresskin Panel System for  enclosing their Timber Homes. With timber frames being so versitile, having longer spans and taller openings, the structural insulated panel (SIP) works hand-in-hand with timber frames. These SIP`s have many advantages over stud-built enclosers. They have proven to be stronger, more energy-efficient and installed fairly quickly (usually within 3-4 days ).

They have actually built homes strictly with SIP`s, with the aid of a ridge and minor backing. It is a solid foam core panel, 6 1/2" for walls (R26) and 8 1/2" for roof panels (R40). The panels consists of OSB sandwiched over the foam core, which leaves you any area to nail or screw to, inside or out. With proper installation, as well as the use of expanding foam to fill between the panels, they create a tight building envelope. The panels are conveniently manufactured from 4´x 8´ to 8´x 24´.There is also considerably less waste and less raw material is used in creating OSB, and the foam core is a recyclable material .
